Malibu Road is a two lane country road that is 2.5 miles and runs parallel to the Pacific Coast Highway. It is close to Malibu’s city center and home to 250 units; most of them are two-story single family houses on the beach front.
The Webb Way entrance takes you through the gate and into the neighborhood where beach lots are 50 by 100 feet deep. Larger lots on the landside of the community can be found and range from 1 to 4 acres. There are also multi-family rental units at the north end of Malibu Road. Residents enjoy spectacular views and the southern end has the widest beach in the neighborhood. And an active homeowners association represents the community.
These homes, priced in the millions, have many amenities like rooftop decks, pools overlooking the ocean, floor to ceiling windows, vaulted ceilings, and ocean front master suites. Public education is handled by the Los Angeles Unified School District and includes schools like Webster Elementary, Malibu High School, and Our Lady of Malibu. Bluffs Park is situated above Malibu Road on the palisades and is managed by the City of Malibu. There are plenty of recreational activities here with The Michael Landon Center and a Little League field. The open space is used by many to fly remote control planes and others like to hike the designated trails that lead to Malibu Road.
Traffic can be heavy but residents have access to the Malibu Colony Plaza shopping center which is bordered by the PCH, Webb Way, and Malibu Road. This area also has a fire station and several professional offices. The landside of Malibu Road is under constant study because of geological hazards. Scientists are concerned over Pepperdine University’s watering practices. The University’s excess watering around its grounds is believed have partially caused movement of the bluffs above the residential community.
